Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 in an Olympic contest. Bela Karrolyi is the Romanian gymnastics instructor who later became the coach for Comaneci and first became aware of Comaneci when she was just six years old. Her first competition was at the national junior championships of 1969, finishing 13th. She won the competition in 1970. She took home three golds at her very first contest, a junior pre-Olympic meet in 1972 that was held by communist bloc countries. In 1973 and 1974, she was the junior all-round champion. When she competed for the first time as a senior, in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion winning four gold medals as well as one silver. She took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and became the first woman in history to dismount the bars in parallel with a double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She started her career as an entertainment professional as a teenager performing as an ice skating duo along with her sibling Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her career in entertainment when she was in her teens. Her career began by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling performance. They featured dramatic skating on ice shows.
